Open Access Policy

The SAFE Journal of One Health (SJOH) is a fully open-access, peer-reviewed journal committed to the unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge. All articles published in the journal are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, allowing readers worldwide to access, read, download, share, and cite published content without subscription barriers.

The journal supports the principles of open science and aims to promote the broad dissemination of interdisciplinary research addressing human, animal, plant, and environmental health within the One Health framework.

Publication Charges

To support the launch and growth of the journal and to encourage submissions from researchers worldwide, the SAFE Journal of One Health currently waives all submission, processing, and publication fees.

APC Waiver Period

All manuscripts submitted on or before 30 June 2027 will be eligible for a full waiver of Article Processing Charges (APCs). During this period, authors may submit, review, and publish their articles free of charge, subject to successful peer review and editorial acceptance.

APC Policy After the Waiver Period

For manuscripts submitted after 30 June 2027, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 1,000 will apply to accepted articles. The APC covers:

• Editorial management and peer-review administration
• Copyediting and typesetting
• Online publication and website maintenance
• Long-term digital archiving
• DOI registration
• Dissemination of published content

Any future revisions to the APC policy will be announced on the journal website in advance and will apply only to new submissions received after the effective date of the change.

Transparency and Ethics

Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific quality, originality, relevance, and compliance with ethical standards. The ability of authors to pay publication charges will not influence editorial evaluation, peer review, or publication decisions.
