LaTeX Submission Guidelines

SAFE Journal of One Health supports LaTeX manuscript submissions and provides a dedicated template to ensure correct structure and formatting for the journal's editorial system.

The journal's LaTeX template is available for download and is compatible with Overleaf. Authors should follow these guidelines carefully to ensure their submission proceeds through review without delay.

LaTeX

Authors submitting manuscripts prepared in LaTeX should use the journal's LaTeX template, which is available for download here. The template includes formatting instructions that ensure the manuscript is correctly structured for the journal's editorial system. The template can also be used within Overleaf.

BibTeX and References

The template package includes a BibTeX style sheet. Authors should apply this style sheet to govern the formatting of their reference list, as it ensures that all citations are generated in the correct format. All journals in the SAFE family use the Vancouver reference style.

Tracking Changes

Change tracking must not be enabled in the final .tex file. The use of latexdiff is recommended for tracking modifications to the manuscript PDF during the review process, as this keeps the .tex file itself clean and uncluttered. Download latexdiff.

Using Overleaf

The journal's LaTeX template is compatible with Overleaf. Authors are encouraged to add the template package to a new or existing Overleaf manuscript in order to apply the journal's required style.

Initial Submission

For the initial submission, upload the compiled PDF as the manuscript file. This PDF should contain all manuscript text, figure legends, tables, and references. Figures must not be embedded in the PDF — they should be uploaded as separate individual files.

Please note: If a submission does not follow the template format, the manuscript may be returned to the author for reformatting before it can proceed through review.

Accepted Submissions — Source File Requirements

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be asked to upload their LaTeX source files. If the manuscript .tex file has been split across several separate files, these must be consolidated into a single unified .tex file before uploading. Authors should also ensure that the PDF file submitted at this stage reflects the most up-to-date version of the manuscript.
