All authors submitting to the journal are required to disclose all financial support received in connection with the reported research. Declaring funding sources recognises the contributions of funders, satisfies funding body requirements, and strengthens transparency throughout the research process. It also enables editors, peer reviewers, and readers to make a well-informed assessment of the work, bearing in mind any potential conflicts of interest that may arise from financial relationships.
The journal endorses the principles of the Good Publication Practice (GPP) Guidelines for Company-Sponsored Biomedical Research.
What to Declare
Each author must individually disclose all sources of funding received for the research presented in the submission. For every funding source, authors should provide the name of the granting organisation, the relevant grant number(s), and a description of the funder's role in the research. Where a funder had no involvement in the research, this must be explicitly stated.
Refer to the submission guidelines for further information on Financial Disclosure Statements.
Funding Statement
Funding details must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission through the online submission system. If the article is accepted for publication, the Funding Statement will appear on the published article and be included in the article's associated metadata.
Policy Enforcement
The journal requires all submissions to include a completed Funding Statement in the online submission system prior to peer review.
Should inaccurate funding information come to light following publication, a correction may be required. The journal reserves the right to reconsider the acceptance of an article where incomplete, omitted, or inaccurate information is found to have influenced the peer review process.
Declaring Conflicts of Interest Pertaining to Affiliations and Funding Sources
Within the article's competing interests statement, authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest arising from their institutional affiliations or from the funders and sponsors of the research, in addition to any other competing interests as outlined in the Competing Interests Policy.
Funding from Tobacco Companies
The journal does not accept manuscripts where the research has been funded, in whole or in part, by tobacco companies or their subsidiaries. This position reflects the journal's commitment to public health and the integrity of One Health research.
